Who doesn’t love food on a stick?

Stick & Move invites you to a series of intimate gatherings to explore select
food cultures of the world, one skewer at a time.

Hosted by Julia Battaglini and Dave Martin, each event will introduce you to various delicious cuisines of the world, with something tasty to wash it down with. For over 15 years, Julia curated the wine and cheese selections at the helm of River City Cellars in Carytown – one of Richmond’s premier wine shops. In 2010, joined by partner Dave Martin, she opened Secco Wine Bar, pairing pan-Mediterranean seasonal dishes with small-production, terroir-driven Old-World wines. They closed Secco in 2022 to broaden their travel adventures.

They now bring those adventures and their culinary expertise back to Richmond, in a slate of skewer-driven pop-ups called Stick & Move.

From Lebanese Kababs to Venetian Cicchetti, Japanese Yakitori to Spanish Pinchos Morunos, skewers of food feature delicious flavor combinations and techniques to define and exemplify each tradition.

Their first adventure (August 18th at Kitchen Classroom), will take you to the Spanish Basque country for Pintxos. The name comes from the Spanish verb “pinchar,” which means to stab. They are bite-sized culinary treats, typically served atop bread, and are ubiquitous in local bars and taverns, in a region famous for their pub crawls.
